SwitchBoard

The Switchboard is a custom-designed instrument created with the intent of capturing a wide variety of sci-fi inspired switch and button sounds. Drawing from my work on sound design for Threefold Bold, I mounted an assortment of switches and buttons onto a piece of sturdy 8x2 timber. This setup allows for quick integration into any recording session, offering a simple microphone setup to easily capture the rich harmonics and unique mechanical sounds of its components.

Each switch and button provides distinct sonic textures, from subtle clicks to more resonant, percussive tones. The Switchboard is a versatile tool for adding atmospheric layers and mechanical effects to soundscapes, making it ideal for foley work or any project in need of intricate, tactile sound design.
