Spring Box

The Spring Box is a unique percussive instrument designed to harness the natural resonance of springs. Constructed with a sturdy 12mm plywood frame, nailed and glued for durability, its design ensures optimal acoustic performance. A sound hole on the front side allows for capturing its rich, organic acoustics with a microphone, while an integrated piezo pickup provides a direct connection to a preamp or audio interface for versatile recording options.

Carefully attached springs on the top of the body react to motion, producing a distinctive, resonant sound, I built the Spring Box to explore dynamic tonal textures and rhythmic possibilities, making it a versatile tool for experimental soundscapes and compositions.
